"Useless" aesthetic considerations & other

Post by Pao »

Ok Angeman compliments for the quick update and to the problems that have been solved.

The panel of transactions it is now more clear.

Now that the bugs have been fixed (I hope), I might make some points about the layout of the software for mac and the choice of colors.

Most likely you will think, "Who cares!" but I think you should get a lot of attention to these aspects.

Now the program is very functional, but not very nice ... (In my opinion of course)

The left side, where they appear accounts may be fine.
Apart from the incomprehensible decision to change font in the box of the total.
It also enclose it in a box "similar to a receipt (?)" Is a questionable decision aesthetics.

As regards the right side where the transactions are displayed, the choice of shades of gray is really bad, especially if you write above in black.
Why the new panel of transactions is another gray, totally different?

That is, or do a totally different color (for example, as the panel of the accounts would be ok) or you do a similar gray shades as the area of transactions, as it was in the original version(keeping the new layout)

Too many background colors create confusion and disorder.

Often, the most clear and simple solutions are the most popular.

In conclusion, if you have a consultant for graphics, FIRE him. :D :D :D

One last question:
Why propose a online survey about the new panel transactions only in French forum?

Patriotism? :D :D ok.... W la France!! :D
(The way of on-line survey about the new changes may be valid)

thanks :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Thanks for your considerations, that's always valuable ;-)

That's because French people are a very very large percentage of my customers indeed.

This does not seem like an excuse.

So the minority opinion that is not French,

(which pays the same your software)

means nothing to you??

"Very Very Large" congratulations for the answer ...

I shouldn't have to justify myself every time but anyway… I wanted to have to have a quick opinion for the new design. I didn't want to have a complete overview of everyone's feelings, just to know roughly how people felt like about it. That's why asking 90% of the customers is enough in my opinion. Besides, the English forum is far less visited than then the French one so I wouldn't have received many answers as quickly.

You are perfectly free to do as you see fit.
You would not have cost nothing to enter the survey also in forum English.
Even if he was even 1% ...
You're still giving the impression that you do not care about the opinions of 10% of foreign customers.

What you say can be understood, from a logical perspective, but it is not very respectful towards the 10%.
Anyway, your choice "was not very elegant".

my 2 cents

Pao,
I believe Angeman has the perfect right to decide how to promote or where to ask feedback for his software. After all if 90% of the user base is French I'd have done the same :) That's why I also read the French forum.

Although me and Angeman we have been often disagreeing on some design choices since the beta (I raised concerns about the design since the first beta release), I feel he's responsive and actively listening to questions we ask here and we're seeing many things smothered, fixed or changed. It's a one man band after all, takes some time.
As for me V5 isn't yet a better choice for leaving my trusty V4, so I just wait.

I won't stop pushing him for feats I feel missing from the previous version or for things I'd love to see done in a different way and I do know he can listen but also ignore those request, as it's about his business we're talking about :geek:

Honestly I think you were a little rough with your two last messages. There's a better way to criticize choices; harassing the developer won't get us anywhere.

Just to clarify, I don't get any endorsement or free candy from him, I bought my license as everyone else.

We've already written before, for me can do what he wants.

Have you read the French forum but did not participated in the survey.
If you believe that your opinion is useless, Angeman has done well to bring the survey only in the French forum.
I think otherwise.

I appreciate his efforts, and about my criticism of the software, I don't think I was harassing.

Totally agree.
I'm pretty sure that everything I have written, for Angeman does not matter, in fact he answered me only on the survey.

But that's okay, no problem, he is not obliged to answer to me. He has 90% of French customers ... :D :D :D

I apologize Angeman had answered me: "Thanks for your considerations, that's always valuable;-)"

I feel better now .... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
