QIF Imports

Post by John W »

New user to iCompta, trying out the free version to see if it meets my needs before purchasing the paid version. I've reviewed the help info as well as searched the forum but not finding a solution to my problem. Hopefully someone here can point me to a post or better yet provide a solution to my issue.
I'm trying to import a qif file (generated by Microsoft Money) into the Iphone version of iCompta using the WebServer function of iCompta. I'm able to import the qif file however when reviewing the imported transactions, the iCompta Date field and iCompta Value Date both indicate the date of the import versus the actual date of the transaction. Reviewing the import log, the actual transaction date is present in the qif, it seems that something in iCompta is changing the date to the import date.

Is there a setting somewhere in iCompta to maintain the transaction date in one of the iCompta date fields or is there a work around to importing the actual transaction date?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Can you copy/paste a few lines from your QIF file so that I can tell you the correct date format to enter in the import settings ?

I did a bit more experimenting and found that if I modified the date code in my qif file to MM/dd/yyyy and then imported the qif to iCompta using the same date code MM/dd/yyyy the transactions come in with the correct dates. However, the transaction display for all transactions older than about 30 days display "LITE" in all fields. The transactions that are less than 30 days old, all fields display correct. When I click on any of the 108 transactions loaded (dating back as far as Jan 5, 2024) for the transaction details, all of the detail fields including the date fields display correct.

Using the date filters to retrieve all transactions between two dates works despite the fields displaying "LITE".

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for your help in advance

The correct date format for your file is MM/dd''yyyy (make sure to copy/paste this format otherwise iOS will replace the quotes with different ones that won't work).

The "LITE" is shown on purpose in the lite version, it won't be displayed in the paid version.

Thanks for the help. The date format you provided worked for me with the caveat that I copy and paste the date format text that you provided. If I try to type the date format text (MM/dd''yyyy (two apostrophe's versus quotation mark)) into the iCompta form it defaults back to listing all dates as the transaction import date. Trying to understand the difference between what I copy/paste and what I can type as I will need to perform this import weekly. Are you able to provide me the date format text? Also is there a way to change/save the default date format in the iCompta form so that I don't have to enter it time I perform an import?

Clarifying the "LITE" display, if I purchase the paid version of iCompta the data will display correctly despite the age of the transaction?

Thanks again for your help

You just have to do it once, then click on "Save configuration" at the end of the import, in the results screen.

A couple more quesitons,

I've created several rules and validation settings in the free Lite version of Compta. Will all of the rules and validation settings be stored in the backup zip file and transfer into the paid version of iCompta?

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to purchase the full version via the App Store or via the in app purchase option?

Thanks Again

There is no in app purchase option currently, you can just buy the full version directly.
