New to iComptamobile

Post by Valeed »

I've just downloaded iComptamobile to my iPad in a move away from managing my finances on Microsoft Excel. I am finding tayloring the system to suit my needs difficult and could use some help to get my head round the basics.

I have always managed my money through groups such as Housing Costs, Groceries, Car, Loans and non-regular expenditure. These then have budgets assigned to their individual parts such as, Car would include Fuel, Insurance, Purchase costs plus Servicing and Repairs. I then assign the amount i'm expecting to pay each month against these individual parts and then allocate the acutal amount spent.

While I have been able to make many changes to the initial look of the system, I am struggling to know the best way to enter my information into the system. The user guide appears to assume the user has an understanding of the system, so overlooks the basics. I am aware that due to the low price of the app I shouldn't expect a 200 page guide, but I would really appreciate any help available.

Regards

You can either enter your transactions manually by clicking on the + button under the transactions list or you can download and import QIF or OFX files from your bank web site. I'm not sure if that answers your question so if it doesn't, please tell me.

Hi. I am also new to this software. I agree that a guide to the basic operations, perhaps a PDF, would be very helpful. My problem is that although I am managing to find my way around in general, the one thing I am stuck on is the categories. I like to enter my spending in groups as well. As previously exampled a Car group that breaks down into various categories such a fuel, repairs, insurance etc. I can't seem to find a way of doing this. How do you add a category to a group? Hope you can help.
