Downloading Transactions

Hello,
I've just discovered iCompta, and I am very thrilled with it so far. However, I'm in the process of setting up my accounts, and have run into trouble with the "Download Transactions" feature.
I've been using the "Choose factory settings" option to prefill the OFX data for my financial institutions. After that, I fill in my Login and password. Still, that doesn't seem to be enough because the "Download transactions" button remains grayed out.
After doing some reading here on the forum I learned that the "Number" field has something to do with getting this working. When I put something in the Number field the Download transactions option becomes available, but gives an error.
Can anyone shed some light on what I'm doing wrong?

Based on information from another thread I'm suspecting that the "Number" field is looking for a 10 digit string, which should correspond with the account number. I've been trying different variations of this, still with no luck.

Yes the number field should contain your account's number. Are you sure your bank offers OFX direct download service ? What is the name of your bank ?

I'm trying to download transactions from American Express. My username and password are correct (they work in Quicken), but iCompta says "Error importing transactions..."
Is there some way to see the actual error message?

I found the error message in the console, but what does this mean (I x'd out the username & password, and #'d the account, all of which were correct)?

iCompta tells the server it is Quicken 2006 for Windows and the server of American Express answers that this version is not supported. Which version of Quicken do you use when it works ?

Can you give them a call and ask them if they can enable Quicken 2006 ?

Calling the providers seems like the wrong approach. Quicken retires old versions: see Retiring online services for older versions of Quicken - Quicken® Support -
http://quicken.intuit.com/support/artic ... /3874.html (see also, Quicken Discontinuation Policy - Quicken® Support -
http://quicken.intuit.com/support/artic ... /3875.html).
Quicken supports their versions for 5 years. If I remember correctly, several years ago many vendors shifted their download procedures so that only versions newer than 2006 worked. Essentially, earlier versions were disabled by policy.
Is there some reason why you mimic Quicken 2006. Can't you mimic 2008 (or provide an preference for which version)?

Yes I will provide a preference, it will be easier.
