Using two data files

Can I, on the same Mac, open two data files simultaneously?
I need to copy and paste transactions information from an older iCompta data file to a new one.

I can not do this ...
I open the first file and when I open the other the first one is closed.

Was it the same document at the beginning ? I mean did you duplicate your document in the Finder to create the other ?

My mistake...
I was able to open both files.
