PNC Bank connecting

Post by fromage »

I have a PNC Bank checking account that I would like to be able to download from automatically using OFX direct connect. After talking with PNC on the phone, they mailed me a PIN for use with Quicken or QuickBooks Direct Connect, and they said it should work with other software also, however I have not been able to get it to work and do not know what to enter into all of the boxes. Someone on the forum wrote about connecting to PNC back in 2012, but the iCompta screen has changed since then. Please help me as to what I need to enter to establish the connection. Thanks!

Enter PNC in the "Financial institution" search field and it will autocomplete several fields below. Then you'll have to enter your login and your PIN (= password) and click on "Connect and select accounts".

Thanks for your quick response!

I tried following your instructions, and it says "Error. Login failed" with the details I have pasted below. I called PNC Bank and they told me they only troubleshoot for Quicken and Quickbooks. When I start typing in PNC, it automatically brings up "PNC Investments, LLC" which is the investment sector of the company for stocks, etc. Since I just have a checking account is there maybe something different for that regarding the "financial institution"?

I tried the URL you mentioned in your 2012 reply (https://www.oasis.cfree.com/test.ofxgp) along with Organization: ISC and Institution: 4501, but that didn't work either.

Can you try with https://www.oasis.cfree.com/4501.ofxgp in "Server URL", nothing in "Organization" and 4501 in "Institution ID" ?

Hmm. It still does not work. An internet search revealed that others have also had trouble with PNC Bank. I am using the login and password PNC mailed me, but one website said that the PIN (password) has to be changed using Quicken before it will work. Can you tell from the error details whether the problem is with the login/password or something else?

It tells that the request sent by iCompta has a "bad syntax" however I've tried every change possible to the request and it always returns that. So I'm sorry but I've no idea what else can be done to connect with PNC bank. If you know someone who managed to connect to PNC with OFX Direct Connect you can ask him to send his log then I should be able to figure out what needs to be changed in the request otherwise I don't know what to do more sorry.
