Puzzled by number at top of account

Please can you explain the meaning of the number to the left of the "Reconciled" figure? I can't understand how it has been been calculated?

This is the balance of all transactions in your account. If you have checked "Display today's balance" in the Settings application, this is the balance of all transactions which date is before or equal to today.
