Credit Card Accounts

Post by AlecFasani »

Hi Angeman,

I've seen you have fixed the bug regarding dates at credit card accounts.
That seems to be working fine.
Thanks!

But now there is something else, sorry.

I actually have two "Credit Card Accounts (CCA)" behaving differently.

  • MASTERCARD ACCOUNT
This account downloads from the statement all purchases as credits and all payments as debits.
I have created a rule to invert the amounts so my debit increases with each new purchase.
At the end of the period, I end up with a negative balance at Mastercard so this CCA takes the money from my Debited Account and transfers it to the Mastercard account which will have a Zero Balance as it should be. ✅
That's fine.

  • AMEX ACCOUNT
With AMEX things are the opposite.
All purchases are already downloaded as debits and payments as credits, so I don't need to use any rules here.
That's also fine.

The problem comes when I try to set my AMEX account as a CCA.
Icompta is using random amounts instead of using the balance of the CCA.

Please see the screenshots attached where the amount expected to be taken from the Debited Acc is £752.67 (which is the balance from my AMEX acc) but instead, it takes £291.28 from my Lloyds Acc

or £158.72 when I use another account called V&A.
Actually, both of them are wrong.

Could you help me with that, please?

Thanks.

You set the first transfer date to 03/04/2022 so it will take all transactions between 03/03/2022 and 02/04/2022 to compute the amount of the transfer. The date of the transfer will be 03/04/2022 and its value date will be 28/04/2022. Is this what you expect ?

Yes, that's correct.
Basically, my balance at the moment is -£752.67 and that's the amount expected to be taken from my debited account on 28/4 (as long as I don't include any new expenses of course).
I have already tried all possible dates combinations for transfer and value dates and I never get the correct amount in the end.
The funny thing is that my Mastercard account works perfectly. The problem is only at AMEX and I can't figure out why.
The only difference between both accounts is that at Mastercard I must use a rule to "inverse amounts" otherwise all my purchases would be credits instead of debits.

I've done some new tests now and here is what happened:

Mastercard account:
With Debited account "Lloyds FPL" works fine
but if I change the Debited account to "V&A" or any other account it transfers a random amount

AMEX account:
No matter which account I use as Debited the transfer amounts are random, even if I use the same "Lloyds FPL" which works fine for Mastercard.

Could you send me your accounts file by email so I can check and see what happens exactly ? Thanks

My accounts file include my businesses accounts so I'm not keen to share it, sorry.

Anyway, I have solved the problem by splitting my AMEX account in two.
The new CCA only has transactions starting from the "First Transfer Date".
All previous transactions I'm keeping on a separate account.
Works fine now.

I just have noticed one new thing.
The "Balance Evolution Graphic" of my Debited Account changes on the "first transfer date" rather than on the "value date".
That gives me a graphic where the balance shown is lower than the real one.
Is there a way to change that for the value date?

Thanks

You can go in the settings of the balance evolution chart and check the "Use value dates" box.
