You have to create your types first in the "Types & Currencies" window. You can go to that window by clicking on the "Types & Currencies" toobar button in the top of the window.

Sorry I forgot to mention this is because all reports starting after today are not shown so you will be able to see it tomorrow. In the mean time, if you set your budget start date to January 1st and change the date of your transaction to January 29th for example, you will see how it is supposed to ...

A standard account (ie under "ACCOUNTS") is supposed to match a real bank account whereas a person account (ie under PEOPLE) is a fictive account intended for storing transactions that do not belong to a standard account such as cash transactions for example.

It works just the same way : you create a new operation of 1000 SFr in one of your accounts (or in your person account if you gave the money in cash for example) and you set the person you lent the money as a 100% participant. Tab navigation through buttons and text fields
If you want to be able to navigate through buttons and not ony text fields with the tab key, you can go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts > Full keyboard access and choose "All controls".
