Unusual budget duration means transactions not picked up

Post by rsouthgate »

Hi,
First off, I love iCompta. Thanks for all the hard work and I'm looking forward to the next major release - all the things everyone else is requesting are things I want too.

I had a small problem with an old budget for March. January and February ran for 1 month from 13th jan and 13 Feb. Then in March I changed jobs and wanted a budget from 13 March to 31st March. The duration is not an exact integer, so I assumed the start and end dates would override the duration field. But it seems I still have to change the duration to be longer than the 2.5 weeks before transactions get picked up. I can set the duration to be 3 months and it still only picks up transactions between the entered dates, so this isnt a bug I guess, just a little bit of UI that was counter intuitive for me. I think once an end date is entered the duration field should become disabled.

Thanks again for a great bit of software.

I undertsand this might be confusing but the end date and the duration are independant indeed. For example, you can set a monthly budget to start on January 1st and end on March 15th. This will result in 3 reports : January 1st - 31th, February 1st - 28th and March 1st - 15th.
