iCompta4 AND iCompta5?

Post by romad »

Is it possible to run both 4 & 5 in parallel? Do they both use the same datafile or are separate ones needed? I'd like to use 5 for a trial period to see which version I prefer before possibly updating.
Sincerely,
Dennis

Yes you can, version 4 will use your .compta file whereas version 5 will create a new .comptadb file and use it.

OK, I have them both running but I'm having a problem configuring the transaction pane layout in iCompta5 to match what I have set up in iCompta4.

This is how I want it to look: Status; Info (ie Type/Number); Name; Category; Comment (Memo); Debit; Credit; Preview (ie Running Balance)

There is a Category option but it is under the Splits section of the Layout Options drop-down menu and won't let me add it to the upper section. I don't use splits, but even if I did, I would still want the Category field for non-split transactions

How do I get the layout configured to match the one in iCompta4?

Check "Splits", it's the column that correspond to "Categories".

Thanks, that did it but it is not very intuitive. To me, categories mean one thing and splits mean a totally different thing.
